On Thursday, November 19, 1863, Abraham Lincoln gave a brief address at the dedication of the Soldier's National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This speech is now considered one of the greatest in American history and one of the finest examples of English public oratory. To mark its 150th anniversary, Librivox volunteers bring you 15 recordings of the Gettysburg Address. (from Wikipedia and LA Walden)
Gov. of, by & for the people as well as freedom was busy being crushed by the Union army. The South just wanted away from a greedy and despotic North. Well, here it is 155 years later: our criminal Government is a direct descendent of Dishonest Abe's government: despotic at home and oppressive abroad. Most of what the great men of the South predicted would happen (society, Government, relations) before the war has happened and can be seen today.
Words to be always remembered. Well read.
