Anne of the Island is the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series following the adventures of its heroine Anne Shirley as she leaves for Redmond College in the busy city of Kingsport to study for her bachelor’s degree. The third installment in the series sees the beloved protagonist experience new adventures and challenges outside the familiar setting of Avonlea. The novel kicks off when Anne decides to pursue her dream of a higher education, and subsequently leaves her two year teaching position at the school in Avonlea and begins her studies at Redmond College. Fortunately, Anne is not alone in the new environment, as she is accompanied by her old friends Gilbert Blythe, who has also enrolled in Redmond College, as well as roommates Priscilla, Philippa and Stella. Though Anne has her mind set on good grades and flawless academic prosperity, she cannot avoid the tides of love and the many suitors offering their affection. When Anne rejects Gilbert’s proposal, stating that she only views him as a friend, she must undergo a journey of self-searching and discover the true meaning of love. Striving for a true love resembling those from the many books she has read, Anne must draw the line between fiction and reality, or she might miss her only chance at happiness. Montgomery’s third installment can be considered to be a turning point in Anne’s life as the novel brings new problems and important decisions to be made, which in turn will either make or break her. Womanhood, maturing, and love are just some of the themes explored in this classic. A novel depicting the inevitable process of growing up, Anne of the Island is a perfect illustration of the challenging and sometimes awkward moments we all go through to achieve our full potential in life.
I can't under stand Rubie but Davy is lovely
Some of the voices were bad.
I hate Gilberts voice ,but still LOVE the book.
I like the book,but I don't like Gilberts' voice.
Gilbert, Diana, Priscilla and Ruby sound dreadful. Anne and Mrs. Rachel Lynde are good but Davy sounds like a girl.
I Love Anne's enthusiasm and high spirit love this book I am hooked
Great book thank tho for your time and effort readers
Anne's voice in absolutely perfect, but much better if Diana and Gilbert had different voices.
loved the book, a little disappointed in some of the voices.Diana's voice sounds like she's in a tunnel and sometimes I couldn't make out what she was saying. Pricilla souned like she may have recorded her parts over a telephone, but I'm still grateful for all the readers. Thank you for your time and afford.
great story can not hear rubies voice, don't like gilbets voice
i hate Gilberts voice !
I can't listen to Ruby. She is terrible
love Davy, Gilbert, Pricilla, Phillipa and annes voice. Dianas is awful
Love Roy's voice!
LOVE Davey's voice. I think that the story wouldn't be half as good without him.
love Gilbert and Davy's voice
The end was way tooooo lovey
I love the story and following Anne's life, but can only give 3 stars due to some of the voices that make me want to turn it off. Gilbert sounds like a moron, Diana's voice sounds like she's in a tunnel, Pricilla sounds like she recorded it over the phone.
Diana,Ruby, and Gilbert had horrible voices.Gilbert sounded like he had smallish bees up his nose! And Rubys was stuck up and weird
Gilberts, Rubys and Dianas voices are awful!!!!! Gilberts voice sounds very dumb
i love this book and as anne would say it has scope for imagination
I am love the story . Thank you for everyone for reading in audio
Diana's voice and Ruby's voice are not very good, but the rest are great. Awesome narrator!
Most of the voices I was fine with, but I don't like Gilbert's or Diana's voice. Anne's voice is awesome, and love Davy's.
It is absolutely fantastic except I cant understand Ruby's or Diana's but otherwise it was brilliant and I'm very much abliged
Daina's voice is very muffled and I am not able to understand Ruby at all.
Narrator, Anne, Marilla are my favorite voices. Ruby's voice is bizarre--can't help listen and like it. I can barely listen to Davy anymore--when will he grow up? These rest of the voices are pretty bad as well? How can it be so amazingly wonderful and annoyingly hideous at the same time?
I like the girls voice
Phillipa Gordon's voice is hilarious!
main actress is good... gilbert's voice is bad. so is diana's.
''anne''s voice is o.k. ruby's voice is bad. so is diana's, abd gilbert's. bad voice for gilbert, diana, and ruby.
main actress is amazing! hate gilbert's voice.
i think this rendition is well done... Gilbert's voice is different but not horrible. Diana berry's voice is worse...
Love it but Gilberts voice is awalful love the main actress .
I loved this book, loved the narrater for Ann she made this book come to life.
Main actress is wonderful. Can't listen to this Gilbert voice anymore though.
I loved almost everything except Gilberts voice it is terrible!!! I almost stopped it because i did not think i could take it any longer.
So nice to have a fully narrated version after the first two volumes being dramatized, often with simply awful actors. This "Anne"'s reader is delightful as all the characters.
The main narrator/Anne is fantastic. But Ruby's voice is terrible. Which sucks because 'The Summons' is one of my favorite chapters and yet I just couldn't take it seriously here.
Thank you for making this book come to life. Anne's voice is marvelous.
Main narration excellent.
Davey's actor is intolerable and Ruby's is unintelligible. Love the main actress though.
