Montgomery’s literary classic recounts the exciting adventures undertaken by the fiery eleven-year-old Anne Shirley, an orphan girl accidentally adopted by middle aged siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. A coming-of-age novel, Anne of Green Gables focuses on Anne’s new life at Green Gables farm in Avonlea and her adjustment into the Prince Edward Island community. The story launches when the aging siblings Matthew and Marilla decide that they could use an extra hand around their farm, and believe that adopting an orphan boy would be an appropriate solution. However, due to a misunderstanding, the orphanage sends Anne Shirley instead. As Matthew heads to the train station to pick up the anticipated boy, he is shocked to be greeted by a red-headed, freckled and quite talkative little girl. Oblivious to the fact that a mistake has been made, Anne cheerfully enjoys the ride to her new home not hiding her enthusiasm whatsoever. Although initially spinster Marilla requires a bit of persuasion, both siblings are drawn in by the irresistible charms of the young chatty girl and accept the orphanage’s mix-up. Undeniably Anne adds the much needed color in the lives of Matthew and Marilla who are quiet and timid, while Anne serves as a complete opposite to the two. As Anne adjusts to her new surroundings, she leaves readers absorbed as she makes social gaffes in her clumsy attempts to soak in the social norms, religion, and morals with which her peers are already long accustomed to. Obstructed by countless mischief and creative excursions, Anne must make a distinction between reality and imagination as she walks along the path of self-expression. A timeless favorite, Anne of Green Gables leaves a mark on all that have come across the bright and imaginative character portrayed by Anne. It is nevertheless a little girl’s imagination, romanticism, free-spirit and playful antics that have presented Montgomery’s novel with a special place in the world of literature. but really, other than that, this book was so great, and reading it really helped me relax and just gave me a sense of happiness.

I loved listening to this book, and the characters voices were just as I imagined them, but every time Diana talked, I pictured an old woman instead of an eleven year old, so that was the only problem.

Ricardo Carvalho

- Good job but...

The read was great but Diana and Aunt Josephine's voice should be switched.

i love love love Anne of Green Gables and I read it about 5 times

Arielle Lipshaw is my favourite narrator. Her voice is so sweet. But Diana sounded like old granny.

The story was great i was listening to it on my drive home from work-as well , wish i could find another story like it i love all the different voices , i had a friend in school that had a bad sinus problem and she sounded just like dianas voice so it was ok for me reminded me of Cheryl, why cant i find #6 anne of engleside . So happy her and gilbert finally got together

- Anne of Green Gables

This wonderful book takes us back to what life was like a century ago on Prince Edward Island. We just finished our second time reading this wonderful book through and adore the colorful characters and the way the readers portray them. Many of the readers sound exactly as we pictured them to sound and the ones that do not bring fresh personality to their character. This book and series is a forever classic and as Anne would say is simply exquisite!

- I Listened to this multiple times

Wonderful book, lovely performances.

Reading of book was so interesting that it seemed to me that I was right in the story. Thanks everyone

Anne is a very sweet character, she has a big imagination, and I enjoyed the story but Diana sounded like a 52 year old lady. Marinna - 7 years

All of the voices are amazing except for Diana's. She sounds elderly and not like her character at all.

Love this book!!!!

- Diana

Diana's voice sounds old

Kindred Spirit

Amazing!Diana's voice is odd (sounds like an old British woman, but you get used to it. Marila, Matthew, and Anne are exceptional! It's exactly how I pictured their voices when I first read the novel. Great job!

- Diana

Anne's voice is sweet an lovely and Diana's voice is kind of weird. But I still injoy the book.

- Anne of Green Gables

Amazing Book. I would read it again and again

I was very sad and cried each time Anne refused to be friends with Gilbert

I think it is read great, it may be even a bit slowlier, yes Diana and Gilbert sound like old people but they dont speak majority luckily:)

Purple rabbit

- Anne of Green Gables

This book was so interesting and I enjoyed everything. However Diana's voice was kinda weird....But I still enjoyed the book!

- Voices

Anne's voice was lovely but Diana's voice sounded like an Old mummy

Jennifer L.

- Great story!

Captivating story-telling and unforgettable characters!

Hermione Granger

I think it'll be better if diana's voice sounds a little bit...young.

Hermione Granger

I think diana's voice could be much better if it sounded a little bit...young.

- Anne of Green Gables is a favorite

The readers were wonderful.

Como se puede leer el libro solo puedo abrir los audios

Excellent^^ But I think it'll be good if it is a little bit fast.

- diana

umm... diana sounds like a adult..

- great!

it's always been one of my faves growing up... Annes voice is perfect, only thing is Diana's voice sounds like an old woman rather than a young girl...

This novel made me laugh and cry at the same time.

Kathryn Shaffer

- Anne

Anne's voice is so beautiful

I have always loved this story, so glad i can listen to it!!!

- great voice for Anne

Anne's voice - right on target! Diana's voice needs redoing - sounds like an elderly lady rather than a child.

- Bravo!!!!!

Wonderful! Just wonderful! Thank you to the readers of this book. You made the story come alive.

sarah lassem

- Anne of Green gables

I love this story and I love the movies to

- Gilbert

Most voices great except Diana and Gilbert, who sounded too mature and too exaggerated respectively. However a great listen on the whole.

- Diana

Good voices except Diana, too mature with a South African sounding accent.

love the story

- Dramatis Personae

I love the voice for Anne (spelled with an 'e'), but Diana's was rather strange. I love Marilla's and Matthew's voices as well. Rachel Lynde was perfect. Thanks so much for this. :)

- Book

The book is really good and sounds great but Diana's voice is off but still is really really good

Anne's and Marila's voices are wonderful.

love it. want to hear more read by the person who reads the part of Anne

- Diana

I agree regarding Diana's voice, it throws off the reading. But non-the-less i loved it

- book

lovely book gentle but emotional!

- book

Second time I listened to it and still as excellent as I remember!

this was amazing book, but Diana's voice was very creepy. i wish she sound as she apears. Anne's voice'was lovly.

- Voice

aunt Josephine voice and diana's weren't fitting

Loved it! But Diana's voice was kind of creepy. -__-

- Book

Well, I agree with you all, the story is still very good. Anne sounds like a real child/teenager, but Diana sounds like an old English grandmother. Not even a hint of Canadian.

- Loved it :)

I adored all the voices, Anne's especially. And I became quite fond of Diana's, as well. Amazing job by everyone taking the time to make this classic enjoyable for all ages.

Mai Tai

- Loved it, but..

Diana's voice did not fit at all. Weird old lady voice that didn't match the character. It was like whoa, how did Diana age 80 years.

- Super

Super. Moja anglictina bude lepsia :).

My children LOVE this story. The voices are clear and not irritating like some others. The introduction is getting old before every chapter! Thank you for these free audio books and saving my voice!

- Voices

Diana's voice was disapointing, yet Anne's was lovley.

- diana

You get used to diana's voice

I especially love the Matthew Cuthbert cast. The voice was so.. Matthew. Good to listen to this.

I love the book and story but Diana's voice was a complete let down. She sounded like a 90 year old english woman.

What the Diana!? Ha! So silly. But I loved this audio book! Thank you so very much to all who were involved.

Tonia Spencer

- Great storytelling

When a reader can hold the attention of a three year old, an adult and a preteen child all at the same time they have accomplished a great deal.

- Reader

I liked the story and reader's way. I RECOMMEND it.

I loved listening to this! I agree that Diana's voice is miscast but it was because of vocal quality which she can't help. The emotions were exactly right. Such an enjoyable listen, overall.

- Great!

This is great all except Diana's voice.

Great book, great audio, LOVE IT!!!

Best book in the world!

Towards the end, I quite liked hearing Diana's voice :) Good reading.

- charming read!

Really brilliant book, easy to listen to and very optomistic.

Love this book and most of the voices, but when Diana speaks, I want to turn it off and stop listening. Very disappointed in the casting.

- Voice

I was so disappointed about Diana's voice, but I love the detail, and it is as wonderful as the book!!

- Anne of Green Gables

I love this book! Anne's voice was wonderful but I am a little disappointed about Diana's voice which sounds just like an old lady! Marilla, Anne and Matthew’s voice were all wonderful!

Yep, Diana sound's like an old lady and Aunt Josephine sound's like a little girl. Otherwise this is a wonderful recording.

- Anne of Green Gables

I think the casting is just a bit mixed up on this. I would have switched Diana's voice with Aunt Josephine's. The actress is fantastic, just a little miscast. This sounded almost professional, otherwise.

Very enjoyable. I love this dramatized.

- 5 stars for this book

Very good readers! Especially Anne. I like also the narrator. Thank you for this book dear author!

Grant Stewart

- Wonderful

Wonderful book, shame about Diana's voice. Marilla and Anne were just wonderful. I loved Matthews deep booming voice.

- Anne of Green

I think this is so cool! Just a little funny in Diana's voice. Anne is cute and a little talkative and I think she's interesting!

Thanks for all the work that went into this reading. Wonderful job!

- Anne of Green Gables

Anne's voice was great, and I thought Marilla's and Rachel's voice were great as well. Diana, as well know, didn't sound good at all. And Matthew was a little to monotone. Needed more feeling/hesitancy. I was so grateful for this audiobook, though! Thank you!

- Anne Of Green Gables

This book is ALMOST perfect! I just couldn't get by the voice of Diana sounding like an old lady to give it a 4...still a really good job on the book, and I will listen to it again.

Shen Fran

- Amazing book, great readers

This was a great dramatized audiobook. Thank you.

- 5 Stars

Anne's narration excellent.

I love it. I do agree that Diana's voice is too mature for her character while Ms. Rachel's voice is too young for her character. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Diana's voice is terrible!

Anne Fan

Diana's voice is to mature for her character. Horrible!

- Decent.

The only thing I don't like is Diana's voice.

The reader for Anne, does such a great job that we felt like we were right in the story! Rather than having a book read to us. Great Matthew too!! Thanks everyone.
