The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain, A Fancy for Christmas-Time, (better known as The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain) is a novella by Charles Dickens first published in 1848. It is the fifth and last of Dickens' Christmas novellas. The story is more about the spirit of the holidays than about the holidays themselves, harking back to the first of the series, A Christmas Carol. The tale centers around a Professor Redlaw and those close to him.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the narrator was not so great. But I did listen to the story all the way through, and got used to his voice and cadence. This is a gem of a story, and is very relatable, how a spirit of negativity can be contagious, but so can a spirit of compassion. Worth mustering through! At least read it yourself if you can't get used to the narrator!
I'm sure it was an interesting story, but the reader was so irritating I couldn't get past the first chapter. I even checked ahead to see if he read all the way through...he does.
