The Hollisters, a bright, spirited, wholesome family, are compelled to move into the country. After many efforts to secure a home, Shirley, eldest of the Hollisters, contrives a way out by renting a magnificent old stone barn at a ridiculously low price, transforming it into a house. The owner of the barn is not an ordinary landlord, as you will see, for he is a young man with fine ideals, and he is not content with establishing Shirley and her family in the quaintly beautiful old place, but makes the world a much happier place to live in for all of them.
I really enjoyed this book! I listened to it in 2 days and it was hard to stop listening. the voice reading it does a very good job and is pleasant. would definitely recommend to anyone!
Makes a marvellous audio book. Relaxing and totally satisfying.
I love this book! It was a great listen and a classic GLH. Her writing might not have been as in depth as most authors of her genre and time but she is a great sensation writer with plenty to enjoy.
This is one of my favorite GLH books! Very enjoyable to listen to it being read to me.
A lovely fantasy, beautifully read - a light, uplifting read, slightly child-like in its simplistically optimistic portrayal of human nature, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment.
